Blind Tasting: How Well Do You Know California?

We're excited to test our knowledge of California wines in our February BLIND TASTING educational class with Steve Alley!

Reminder: These classes will start promptly at 4pm and 6pm. If you arrive late we'll do our best to accommodate you but we cannot guarantee that you will be served all of the wines.

About the instructor:

Steve has a love for wine that runs deeper than most vines’ rootstocks. His interest for wine was sparked at a young age when he first tasted what a great Riesling was all about. From University days and beyond, he worked for several wine-centric destinations in North Texas. He then migrated down I-35 to Austin in 2005 to start a local wine distribution company, and then started another large local distributor before he joined the team at The Sorting Table, an importer specializing in wines from France and Italy. Beyond his earned wine certifications, he continues to be immersed in the local wine experience by tasting and consulting with leading beverage professionals, colleagues, restauranteurs, friends and tasting groups. Mother Nature gives the vigneron something new to learn each and every vintage. Steve abides by a similar philosophy: there is always something new to learn whether you’re new to wine, or you’ve been doing it your whole life. Stay thirsty, keep tasting new things, and you never know what may end up in your glass.

"We love blind tasting at WFFT! In this class, we’ll explore 3 grapes varieties - Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon - from 3 different regions of California. We’ll learn overall characteristics of Napa, Sonoma, and the Central Coast and taste the differences with three glasses in front of us. The only trick is to pick out which is which!" - Mark Rashap, CWE
