Italy...Off The Beaten Path

Everyone loves Piedmont, Tuscany, and Veneto…but how well do you know the lesser known regions of Italy? Join us as we explore the regions of Valle d'Aosta, Lombardy, Marche, and Sardinia and the vast array of indigenous varietals found throughout Italy. We are excited to introduce you to new grape varietals and the regions where they are found. We will also discuss the local cuisine of the regions and why the wines work so well with what the regional food that people have been cooking for hundreds of years.

About the Instructor
Rick is a 25 year veteran of the wine industry. For over 20 years Rick worked as an Operations Director, Wine Director and General Manager for top restaurants in New York working for celebrity chefs including Bobby Flay and Alfred Portale. Rick opened and developed wine programs for 9 restaurants in New York, Miami and Las Vegas. He was a regular member of the tasting panels for both the New York Times and Wine & Spirits Magazine as well as an instructor for the American Sommelier Association. Currently Rick resides in Austin and is the Fine Wine Specialist for Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits providing sales consulting and education for top restaurants in Austin and San Antonio.
