A Sparkling Saturday Afternoon With Gusbourne!

Master Sommelier Laura Rhys will join us from across the pond to lead a VIP bubbles tasting, followed by a fried chicken and bubbles meet and greet in the beautiful Simona’s Coffee + Cocktails in the Colton House Hotel.

While England has been making wine forever, its sparkling wines are rapidly gaining popularity. They continue to stand up to and even outperform traditional Champagne while being a considerably more affordable option!

Main Event: Learn about this buzzing region at a tasting featuring Master Sommelier Laura Rhys, which includes a flight of some of Gusbourne’s award-winning sparklers. Lucy’s Fried Chicken will be onsite to provide the perfect pairing!

VIP Tasting: We will taste a highly-curated selection of still and sparkling wines from Gusbourne’s portfolio with an educational emphasis on understanding how England is making wines that rival Champagne. This will also be the first tasting in Texas of the highly anticipated and acclaimed 2016 ‘51 Degrees North’ Tête de Cuvée. This is Gusbourne’s most exclusive vintage wine to date and a wonderful expression of time and place. Tickets to this event are extremely limited and also include entry into the main event.

About Gusbourne

From the moment we planted our first vines in 2004, our vision has been to create the finest vintage wines using grapes exclusively from our own vineyards.

We grow the highest quality Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes across the Gusbourne Estate, with 60 hectares in Appledore, Kent and 30 hectares next to the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex. These predominantly Burgundian clones yield smaller volumes of intensely flavourful fruit, which thrive in our unique microclimates. This exceptional produce is the vital first ingredient in making our award-winning sparkling wines, all crafted using the traditional method.

Our debut vintages – Brut Reserve 2006 and Blanc de Blancs 2006 – were released in 2010 to critical acclaim, earning accolades from the world’s most exacting wine critics. Gusbourne sparkling and still wines continue to win prestigious national and international industry awards every year.

About Simona’s & The Colton House Hotel

Seven miles southeast of Austin, the prominent McKenzie family established a small town in 1866, initially naming it Cotton and later renaming it Colton. It captured the essence of small-town Texas through attitude and style. Throughout its history, the town’s most prominent building was a post office. Now a farming and ranching community, the beauty of the Texas landscape that surrounds Colton along with the history of its people are the foundation of what Texas is today.

Colton House was created to honor that same Texas spirit, and we want our guests to experience that independence, beauty, and attitude as well. Colton House was designed to be a spacious, private home for adventurers, families, and guests who crave a different hotel experience, one that’s unique to each person and unforgettable. We want our guests to make their mark at Colton House, to call it home, and to feel that we created it just for you. Because we did.

Colton House Hotel combines residential amenities with upscale hotel luxury and service in a vibrant Austin neighborhood. Our 79 suite-based accommodations range from 460 – 1,170 square feet, with room types that include studios, one-, two- and three-bedrooms, fully equipped with a kitchenette or full kitchen and living room. The hotel also features a spacious lobby, library, coffee and wine bar, plenty of event space, outdoor patio, and pool.
